Leslie Chan, Dr D K Sahu, <strong>and</strong> Dr T B Rajasekhar.<br />

The birth of three other <strong>India</strong>n reposi<strong>to</strong>ries: Librarians Digital Library, the first DSpacebased<br />

reposi<strong>to</strong>ry of <strong>India</strong>; <strong>and</strong> the reposi<strong>to</strong>ries of National Aerospace Labora<strong>to</strong>ries <strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>India</strong>n Institute of Astrophysics.<br />

2005<br />

The birth of six other reposi<strong>to</strong>ries - Electronic theses reposi<strong>to</strong>ry of IISc, <strong>Open</strong>Med@NIC<br />

, Raman Research Institute Digital Reposi<strong>to</strong>ry, National Institute of Technology<br />

Rourkela, <strong>India</strong>n Institute of Technology Delhi <strong>and</strong> <strong>India</strong>n Institute of Management<br />

Kozhikode.<br />

2006<br />

Alma Swan spoke at the Annual Meet<strong>in</strong>g of the <strong>India</strong>n Science Congress Association<br />

held at Hyderabad. Also, she met a small group at ICRISAT <strong>and</strong> spoke about the advantages<br />

of open access <strong>in</strong>stitutional reposi<strong>to</strong>ries<br />

In<strong>for</strong>matics <strong>India</strong> launched <strong>Open</strong> J Gate.<br />

International workshop on Electronic Publish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Access</strong> was held <strong>in</strong> Bangalore.<br />

A national policy document <strong>for</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g countries that could be used by governments<br />

or their science-fund<strong>in</strong>g organizations <strong>to</strong> speed up the scientific progress was produced<br />

at the end of the workshop.<br />

NIT Rourkela m<strong>and</strong>ated open access <strong>to</strong> local research output.<br />

National Knowledge Commission recommended <strong>Open</strong> <strong>Access</strong>.<br />

Four more reposi<strong>to</strong>ries: Indhira G<strong>and</strong>hi Institute of Development Research, National Institute<br />

of Oceanography, INFLIBNET <strong>and</strong> National Institute of Antarctic <strong>and</strong> Ocean Research.<br />

2007<br />

Two more reposi<strong>to</strong>ries: National <strong>Centre</strong> <strong>for</strong> Catalysis Research <strong>and</strong> Vidhyanidhi, electronic<br />

theses <strong>and</strong> dissertation reposi<strong>to</strong>ry.<br />

2008<br />

All 17 journals published by National Institute of Science Communication <strong>and</strong> In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

Research (NISCAIR) became open access .<br />

<strong>Open</strong> Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) was launched.<br />

INSA convened a half-day bra<strong>in</strong>s<strong>to</strong>rm<strong>in</strong>g meet on open access, FOSS <strong>and</strong> copyright law<br />

<strong>for</strong> scholarly communication <strong>and</strong> literary work on 26 April 2008.<br />
