Online Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Christian Ministry<br />
The purpose <strong>of</strong> the Online Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Christian Ministry degree is to provide a basic<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> theological disciplines for those in the practice <strong>of</strong> Christian ministry. In <strong>2014</strong>,<br />
this degree became one <strong>of</strong> only six pr<strong>of</strong>essional masters degrees in North America accredited by the<br />
Association <strong>of</strong> Theological <strong>School</strong>s.<br />
This 48-hour program is <strong>of</strong>fered 100% online and is designed for those currently serving in local<br />
congregations. Students do their coursework on their own schedule. The <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Theology</strong> has<br />
scheduled courses in such a way that students can complete this program in three years. Students may<br />
take one to three courses each semester.<br />
The goals <strong>of</strong> the Online Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Christian Ministry degree are:<br />
• Cognitive: Graduates will demonstrate understanding <strong>of</strong> biblical literature, church<br />
history, theology, and the practice <strong>of</strong> ministry.<br />
• Affective: Graduates will demonstrate passion for lifelong learning and improvement<br />
in ministry knowledge and skills.<br />
• Behavioral: Graduates will demonstrate an increased level <strong>of</strong> ministerial skills in their context.<br />
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS<br />
• Complete 48 hours <strong>of</strong> courses.<br />
• For each course, recruit a small group <strong>of</strong> adults in your local context and teach them for<br />
five hours using information learned in that course.<br />
• For each course, travel to campus for 10 hours <strong>of</strong> face-to-face interaction in the classroom<br />
with the instructor and other students in the course.<br />
• Take either HCUS 6010 (The Church <strong>of</strong> God Reformation Movement) or HCUS 6020<br />
(Denominational History and Background).<br />
• Achieve a grade <strong>of</strong> C- or above in all required courses.<br />
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA <strong>of</strong> 2.5.<br />
