C h a m b e r M u s i c<br />
The Chamber Music programme<br />
was planned and staged in<br />
cooperation with external agencies.<br />
A number of Norway’s leading and<br />
youngest musicians were asked to<br />
choose a musician they would like<br />
to play together with and suggest a<br />
musical programme. This was put<br />
together as a series of chamber<br />
concerts, eight of which were held in Oslo and 17 in the<br />
Olympic Region.<br />
Two premieres were held of works commissioned by LOOC<br />
– one composed by Haflidi Hallgrimsson from Iceland and one<br />
by Randall Meyers from the USA.<br />
The following performers participated in the chamber music<br />

In connection with an installation of ice sculptures at the Olympic<br />
Park (constructed by engineer Jürgen Spelda of the University of<br />
Trondheim), a music composition was commissioned from<br />
composer Tor Halmrast. The work which was called “IC” was an<br />
eight channel “sound installation” for continuous play.<br />
P o p m u s i c<br />
Pop music was presented under the title “Olympic Nights”<br />
and comprised Norwegian and international musicians in the<br />
categories of jazz, pop, rock, roots and entertainment music.<br />
In all, 67 events were held under the topic “Olympic Nights”<br />
with the main arena being the “Tent” at Sportsplassen in<br />
Lillehammer. Other event sites included Hamar, Gjøvik and<br />
Oslo (Rockefeller Music Hall).
