‘Parzifal’<br />

Of all the Hydrangea in our test garden, this plant stands out as something<br />

very special. Mallet calls it a plant with a great deal of personality. A solid<br />

plant with strong stems and small clear green, dentate leaves. The blooms<br />

are tight hemispheres of large size. Mophead blooms vary in color greatly<br />

according to the soil pH, and when grown in a pH of 6 it has blooms of<br />

varied color ranging from dark pink to deep blue.<br />

An incredible hydrangea with unique, two-toned flower heads in midsummer.<br />

The large, 12-16 in. long flower heads emerge white, turn pink,<br />

and continue to push new white flowers from the tip of the panicle. The<br />

flowers are held upright on strong stems, and contrast nicely against dark<br />

green foliage. It blooms regardless of climate, soil, pH or pruning. Use it<br />

as a specimen plant or to create a spectacular flowering hedge. Dr. Johan<br />
