‘Graham Blandy’ (B. sempervirens)
Discovered in 1949 at Blandy Experimental Farm and named to honor
Graham F. Blandy, who in 1926 bequeathed more than 700 acres of
his property to the University of Virginia to establish the Experimental
Farm. This English boxwood has a fantastic dense columnar form that
contrasts well with any planting arrangement and also creates a fine

‘Duke Gardens’
Discovered as a horizontally spreading sport of ‘Fastigiata’ in 1959 at
Sarah P. Duke gardens in Durham, NC. It has dense growth and dark
foliage – a striking and reliable foundation shrub. This is a female form of
plum yew and if a male is planted in the vicinity, ‘Duke Gardens’ will bear

‘Fastigiata’
An attractive columnar form that is commonly used in place of Taxus

This is an improved, fast-growing form of ‘Winter Gem’. Its glossy
evergreen foliage is attractive year-round, and it has excellent
hardiness. This variety’s more upright habit makes it great for hedging.

Wedding Ring ® (B. microphylla var. koreana ‘Eseles’, pp#22,328, cbraf)
There are other variegated boxwood but no others with the hardiness
and gloss of Wedding Ring . This hardy, compact box comes from
Gary Katerberg, the same breeder that brought us North Star . This
evergreen has rich, glossy green foliage with a lime margin that matures
to gold as summer progresses. It holds its color in summer and winter.
