Allowing them to modify the rules to do this would be equally irresponsible on your part. I am
sure many of you have children or grandchildren in elementary school; would you want them
placed in this situation?
If Avery Brewing Company is allowed to do what they are proposing, there will be adults
driving, biking or walking under the influence of alcohol next door to three-year-olds. There
WILL be alcohol related incidents with children involved. I hesitate to imagine how grave these
incidents could be. It is up to you to do whatever you can to prevent this from happening.
Where there is consumption of alcohol, there will eventually and always be people who abuse
that consumption of alcohol – I speak from 30 years of food and beverage industry experience.
Even if you allow Avery to build a brewery and tasting bar on this property, the 500ft rule that
every other bar and restaurant must observe should be strictly enforced. This loophole must be
closed.
