Surgical Technology<br />

Learn to work closely with surgeons,<br />

anes<strong>the</strong>siologists and registered<br />

nurses to provide direct<br />

patient care throughout surgery.<br />

Study setting up <strong>the</strong> operating room, prepping<br />

patients, <strong>the</strong> disease process and instrumentation.<br />

You will be assigned to a local health care facility<br />

to work 550 hours under an experienced health<br />

care pr<strong>of</strong>essional.<br />

This program helps prepare you for employment<br />

in operating rooms, surgical <strong>of</strong>fices, delivery rooms,<br />

emergency departments, physician and dentist <strong>of</strong>fices,<br />

central supply services, cardiac ca<strong>the</strong>terization<br />

clinics, tissue banks and ambulatory surgical care<br />

sites. Advanced placement is available in <strong>the</strong> Practical<br />

Nursing program upon graduation. Financial<br />

aid available to those who qualify. Accredited by<br />

<strong>the</strong> Commission on Accreditation <strong>of</strong> Allied Health<br />

Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon <strong>the</strong><br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Accreditation Review Committee<br />

on Education in Surgical Technology.<br />

Additional costs include textbooks, malpractice<br />

insurance, uniform, CPR certification, and a<br />

complete physical examination. Prerequisite: High<br />

school diploma or equivalent.<br />

Nurse Assisting<br />

Prepare to <strong>begin</strong> your nursing<br />

career as a nurse assistant. Covers<br />

basic procedures in bedside nursing<br />

care, <strong>the</strong>ory, medical ethics,<br />

and clinical supervision in a local health facility.<br />

Students who successfully complete this program<br />

will be eligible to take <strong>the</strong> Nurse Assistant Evaluation<br />

Examination which qualifies students for a<br />

listing in <strong>the</strong> NYS registry. Requirements: a completed<br />

physical examination form by <strong>the</strong> first day<br />

<strong>of</strong> class, purchase <strong>of</strong> designated uniform, original<br />

social security card, and fee <strong>of</strong> $115 for <strong>the</strong> state<br />

examination. Tuition includes textbook. Call<br />
