post-1932 sand fill of the hole (NEH) at the northeast corner<br />

of the GIII.VT. <strong>The</strong> NEH cut the thick mudbrick casing<br />

on the northern and eastern faces of the huge limestone<br />

core blocks and the heavy limestone debris fill (on which<br />

Tavares stands) of the Ramp. Before the sand section<br />

collapsed, Tavares’s emptying of the eastern half of the<br />

NEH descended to the water table and exposed the upper<br />

corner of a third, underlying, course of core blocks. View<br />
