TE23 – Guidelines for the Selection<br />

<strong>of</strong> Trainees: Council approved the<br />

development <strong>of</strong> a new pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

document for the selection <strong>of</strong> trainees,<br />

with the document development group<br />

comprising: Dr Patrick Farrell (Chair),<br />

Dr Phil Byth, Dr Richard Horton, Dr<br />

Colin King, Dr Angela Palumbo, Dr Peter<br />

Roessler <strong>and</strong> Dr Jeneen Thatcher.<br />

TE Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Documents: A<br />

training <strong>and</strong> educational document<br />

development group to revise the training<br />

<strong>and</strong> educational pr<strong>of</strong>essional documents<br />

as a result <strong>of</strong> the introduction <strong>of</strong> the<br />

redesigned <strong>ANZCA</strong> curriculum will<br />

comprise: Dr Lindy Roberts (Chair),<br />

Dr Genevieve Goulding, Dr Mark<br />

Reeves, Dr Suzanne Bertr<strong>and</strong>, a trainee<br />

committee representative (TBA), a head<br />

<strong>of</strong> department (TBA), the DPA Assessor<br />

<strong>and</strong> the DPA Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Documents.<br />

An interim report will be provided at the<br />

October <strong>2011</strong> Council meeting, with the<br />

final report to the February 2012 Council<br />

meeting.<br />

TE17 – Policy on Advisors <strong>of</strong><br />

C<strong>and</strong>idates for Anaesthesia Training:<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional document TE17 was<br />

withdrawn as, since the accreditation <strong>of</strong><br />

departments rather than posts, the role<br />

<strong>of</strong> advisor <strong>of</strong> c<strong>and</strong>idates for anaesthesia<br />

training is obsolete.<br />

CPD Committee <strong>and</strong> m<strong>and</strong>atory<br />

compliance: Council supported<br />

the amendment <strong>of</strong> regulation 2.9 to<br />

increase the Continuing Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

Development (CPD) Committee<br />

membership to include the chair <strong>of</strong> FAC<br />

<strong>and</strong> up to four additional members.<br />

Council approved a CPD m<strong>and</strong>atory<br />

compliance policy as follows: any<br />

registered medical practitioner<br />

anywhere in the world may now<br />

participate in the <strong>ANZCA</strong> CPD program<br />

<strong>and</strong>, if they fulfil the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />

the program, they will be issued with<br />

an <strong>ANZCA</strong> CPD certificate. If a Fellow <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>College</strong> chooses not to undertake the<br />

<strong>ANZCA</strong> program, they will not be issued<br />

with a certificate <strong>and</strong> it will become<br />

their responsibility to demonstrate to<br />

the Medical Board <strong>of</strong> Australia (MBA)<br />

or the Medical Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Zeal<strong>and</strong><br />

(MCNZ) that they have participated in<br />

CPD that meets the required st<strong>and</strong>ard.<br />
