Section 3.3: The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales team
Senior Management Team
The organisation is managed by an accomplished Senior Management
Team, which includes the Head of each service area, the Commissioner and
Deputy Commissioner. Their role is to drive the work of the Commission and
provide specialist advice to the Commissioner. The Commission benefits
from their range of skills and expertise to ensure that we are effectively
managed and our progress is monitored.
Review Examinations and Policy Team
The independent Older People’s Commissioner for Wales was created
with legal powers to make a positive difference to the lives of older people
in Wales.
The Review, Examinations and Policy Team were set up to exercise our
unique powers to review and examine a range of services affecting older
people, as well as influencing policy decision-makers at all levels and make
a positive difference to the lives of older people. Their work includes:
• Lobbying and influencing public policy
• Evaluating impact of policy changes to older people
• Researching issues that affect older people and making
recommendations for change
• Reviewing the law
• Encouraging best practice
Communications and Engagement Team
The Communications and Engagement Team raises awareness of the work
of the Commission and issues affecting older people. They help ensure the
organisation is:
• Transparent, so people know about our work and priorities
• Effectively communicating older people’s issues
• Listening to older people
• Accessible to older people from diverse backgrounds
• Working with stakeholders
