Section 3. Holiday Leave
A. Employees working a twenty-four (24) hour shift shall earn
holiday leave at the rate of 12 hours for each holiday
recognized under this Article. Such holiday leave shall be
added to the employee’s accumulated annual leave subject to
the maximum accrual.
B. Employees working a forty (40) hour work week shall be
allowed leave of absence with pay on every recognized
holiday. In the event any persons work schedule will not
permit such leave of absence, in the opinion of the Fire
Chief or his/her designee, such person shall receive eight
(8) hours holiday pay in addition to pay for hours worked.
Section 4. Management Leave
Management leave in the amount of thirty-two (32) hours per year
shall be credited to employees covered by this agreement in the
first pay period on or after January 1 and must be used by the
end of the last pay period ending in December of that year.
Management leave does not accrue or carryover from one year to
the next, and shall not be paid out at separation.
New employees shall receive a pro-rata share of management leave
based on their date of promotion to the rank of Battalion Chief
position.
