2. Comply with all provisions of section 5.A of this
Article.
3. The West Palm Beach Fire Rescue Department Medical
Director and Fire Rescue Administration may place
newly certified paramedics, or recently hired
certified paramedic personnel, in a restricted status
that limits medical authorization to provide ALS
procedures. While in this limited status paramedics
will be required to participate in the EMS Division’s
six (6) month STEP Program. An additional six (6)
month period may be authorized by the EMS Division.
At the end of the initial six (6) month period and/or
extension the individual will be reviewed by the
Medical Director for release from all restrictions.
If in the opinion of the Medical Director, progress is
being made but continued probation is warranted, then
up to a final six (6) month probationary period may be
authorized by Fire Rescue.
Section 6.
Paramedic Incentive Pay
A. All employees who are Florida State Paramedic Certified and
who are fully authorized by the West Palm Beach Fire Rescue
Department Medical Director and Fire Rescue Administration
to perform Advanced Life Support (ALS) procedures and who
meet all of the requirements listed in Section 5.A of this
Article shall be compensated in the following manner.
Effective with the first full pay period beginning on or
after October 1, 2008, or upon ratification of this
agreement and approval of the City Commission which ever
comes later paramedic incentive will be increased by five
hundred ($500.00) dollars to a total of $10,000.00 and will
be paid at the rate of $384.62 over twenty-six (26) pay
periods.
B. All employees who are Florida State Paramedic Certified and
who have limited authorization by the West Palm Beach Fire
Rescue Department Medical Director and fire Rescue
Administration to perform Advanced Life Support (ALS)
procedures and who meet all of the requirements listed in
Section 5.B of this Article shall be compensated in the
following manner.
