2. Comply with all provisions of section 5.A of this<br />

Article.<br />

3. The West Palm Beach Fire Rescue Department Medical<br />

Director and Fire Rescue Administration may place<br />

newly certified paramedics, or recently hired<br />

certified paramedic personnel, in a restricted status<br />

that limits medical authorization to provide ALS<br />

procedures. While in this limited status paramedics<br />

will be required to participate in the EMS Division’s<br />

six (6) month STEP Program. An additional six (6)<br />

month period may be authorized by the EMS Division.<br />

At the end of the initial six (6) month period and/or<br />

extension the individual will be reviewed by the<br />

Medical Director for release from all restrictions.<br />

If in the opinion of the Medical Director, progress is<br />

being made but continued probation is warranted, then<br />

up to a final six (6) month probationary period may be<br />

authorized by Fire Rescue.<br />

Section 6.<br />

Paramedic Incentive Pay<br />

A. All employees who are Florida State Paramedic Certified and<br />

who are fully authorized by the West Palm Beach Fire Rescue<br />

Department Medical Director and Fire Rescue Administration<br />

to perform Advanced Life Support (ALS) procedures and who<br />

meet all of the requirements listed in Section 5.A of this<br />

Article shall be compensated in the following manner.<br />

Effective with the first full pay period beginning on or<br />

after October 1, 2008, or upon ratification of this<br />

agreement and approval of the City Commission which ever<br />

comes later paramedic incentive will be increased by five<br />

hundred ($500.00) dollars to a total of $10,000.00 and will<br />

be paid at the rate of $384.62 over twenty-six (26) pay<br />

periods.<br />

B. All employees who are Florida State Paramedic Certified and<br />

who have limited authorization by the West Palm Beach Fire<br />

Rescue Department Medical Director and fire Rescue<br />

Administration to perform Advanced Life Support (ALS)<br />

procedures and who meet all of the requirements listed in<br />

Section 5.B of this Article shall be compensated in the<br />

following manner.<br />
