The <strong>in</strong>vited policy-makers and bus<strong>in</strong>ess leaders were affiliated to national<br />

<strong>in</strong>stitutions for policy and bus<strong>in</strong>ess, namely: boards of <strong>in</strong>vestments;<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestment promotion agencies; economic development agencies; economic<br />

and <strong>in</strong>dustry m<strong>in</strong>istries of state; state plann<strong>in</strong>g departments; national and<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational chambers of bus<strong>in</strong>ess, commerce and <strong>in</strong>dustry.<br />

The <strong>EGM</strong>, supported by the Thai Board of <strong>Investment</strong> (BOI), was formally<br />

opened by the Secretary-General of BOI, Mr. Satit Sirirangkamanont. Mr.<br />

Jean-Marc Deroy, UNIDO’s representative <strong>in</strong> Thailand and Mr. Frank L.<br />

Bartels followed with open<strong>in</strong>g statements on behalf of the <strong>Direct</strong>or-General of<br />

UNIDO, Mr. Carlos Magariños (see Appendices II, III and IV).<br />
