Purpose and program areas<br />
The Asian <strong>Cultural</strong> Council’s mission is <strong>to</strong> support international dialogue, understanding, and respect<br />
through cultural exchanges and <strong>to</strong> nurture the individual talents of artists and scho<strong>la</strong>rs in the United<br />
States and in Asia. The ACC holds firmly <strong>to</strong> this core mission while adapting <strong>to</strong> the ever-changing<br />
realities of its field and of the world in which we live. Grants are given in several fields, including both<br />
traditional and contemporary arts.<br />
Funding sources<br />
Generous support is provided by partners who contributed $100,000 or more <strong>to</strong> the Asian <strong>Cultural</strong><br />
Council in 2010, including:<br />
The Henry Luce Foundation, New York<br />
Lee Hysan Foundation, Hong Kong<br />
Rockefeller Brothers Fund, New York<br />
Eligible countries<br />
The ACC is active in an extensive area of Asia ranging from Afghanistan eastward through Japan.<br />
Who can receive a grant<br />
Project & Organization Grants<br />
Arts organizations and educational and cultural organizations are eligible <strong>to</strong> apply <strong>to</strong> the Council for<br />
support for projects of exceptional importance involving cultural exchange between Asia and the<br />
United States or regional exchange among the countries of Asia.<br />
Individual Grants<br />
Asian individuals seeking grant assistance <strong>to</strong> conduct research, study, receive specialized training,<br />
undertake observation <strong>to</strong>urs, or pursue non-commercial creative activity in the United States or<br />
among the countries of Asia in the visual and performing arts are eligible <strong>to</strong> apply for fellowship<br />
support from the Council. Americans seeking support <strong>to</strong> undertake activities in Asia are also eligible <strong>to</strong><br />
apply.<br />
