Purpose and program areas<br />

ANA supports projects that are carried out by Asian artists residing in Asia; projects that are <strong>to</strong> be<br />

initiated and implemented in Asia, engaging with Asian artists and arts communities; and projects<br />

that maintain a focus on Southeast Asia. ANA will consider projects that encourage provocative<br />

exchanges and col<strong>la</strong>borations between and among various cultures and communities within Asia.<br />

ANA is interested in the contemporary experience of Asia including its re<strong>la</strong>tionship with traditions.<br />

Hence, this includes urban expressions, contemporary arts, contemporary arts and its re<strong>la</strong>tionship<br />

<strong>to</strong> traditional arts as well as encounters between traditional arts. ANA promotes col<strong>la</strong>borations and<br />

exchanges with diverse cultures across borders in Asia and would look in<strong>to</strong> the potential of localregional-global<br />

complementation.<br />

Arts Network Asia (ANA) supports many fields of communication: hybrid interdisciplinary work,<br />

performance, community projects, visual arts, video/film, youth projects, literature, critical discourse,<br />

technical training and arts management.<br />

The Asian <strong>Cultural</strong> Council through special funds from the Rockefeller Foundation.<br />

Eligible countries<br />

Southeast Asian countries.<br />

Who can receive a grant<br />

Artists, cultural workers, arts activists, and arts communities.<br />

Grant size<br />

The grants are up <strong>to</strong> a maximum of $10,000.<br />

ANA grants range from $1,500 <strong>to</strong> $7,500 for each project, and are open <strong>to</strong> supporting existing or new<br />

projects.<br />

Examples of recent grants<br />

2010 Awards Grantees<br />

ANA has awarded a <strong>to</strong>tal of $39,500 in grants <strong>to</strong> 11 arts organizations and individuals for their<br />

projects that take p<strong>la</strong>ce from March 2010 onwards. A <strong>to</strong>tal of 211 applications were received from<br />

around Asia.<br />

The following are some projects that have been awarded ANA 2010 grants:<br />
