Purpose and program areas<br />
The Hubert Bals Fund is designed <strong>to</strong> bring remarkable or urgent feature films by innovative and<br />
talented filmmakers from developing countries closer <strong>to</strong> completion. The HBF provides grants that<br />
often turn out <strong>to</strong> p<strong>la</strong>y a crucial role in enabling these filmmakers <strong>to</strong> realize their projects<br />

Types of grant support<br />
The Fund operates in 5 different categories:<br />
Script and project development: the maximum contribution for script and project development<br />
is €10,000.<br />
Digital Production: funding up <strong>to</strong> €20,000 for Digital Production of a feature length fiction film<br />
with a maximum budget of €100,000<br />
Post-production funding or final-financing: the maximum contribution in this category is<br />
€30,000.<br />
Distribution: funding up <strong>to</strong> a maximum of €15,000.<br />
Workshops: funding up <strong>to</strong> a maximum of €10,000.<br />
Grant size<br />
Annually, the Hubert Bals Fund has close <strong>to</strong> €1.2 million at its disposal and is able <strong>to</strong> make individual<br />
grants of up <strong>to</strong> €10,000 for script and project development, €20,000 for digital production, €30,000 for<br />
post-production, €10,000 for workshops or €15,000 <strong>to</strong>wards distribution costs in the country of origin.<br />
