Purpose and program areas<br />
Casa Asia was created with the aim <strong>to</strong> strengthen the knowledge and dialogue about Asia in Spain,<br />
with the analysis and discussion of civic, political, social, cultural, economic and environmental issues,<br />
supporting activities and projects that contribute <strong>to</strong> a better knowledge between Asian and Spanish<br />
societies, and <strong>to</strong> promote the development of re<strong>la</strong>tions between them.<br />
Funding sources<br />
Casa Asia is a consortium made up of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, through its<br />
Spanish Agency for <strong>International</strong> Cooperation for Development (AECID), the Government of<br />
Catalonia and the Barcelona and Madrid City Councils.<br />

Who can receive a grant<br />
The applicant must meet the following requirements:<br />
Be researchers, scho<strong>la</strong>rs, educa<strong>to</strong>rs, artists, journalists, or professionals from other fields and<br />
institutions (foundations, associations, etc.) successfully proving their competence <strong>to</strong> carry out<br />
the project for this call.<br />
The age of the candidates cannot exceed 40 years.<br />
Be a Spanish national or have the nationality of a European Community country, a Latin<br />
American country, or an Asia-Pacific country (specified in section seven). Candidates from<br />
Asian and Pacific countries must submit joint applications with a Spanish citizen.<br />
Grant size<br />
In 2010, the program An<strong>to</strong>ni de Montserrat of Casa Asia awarded three scho<strong>la</strong>rships of €4,000 <strong>to</strong><br />
cover travel expenses and accommodation in Spain. Other grants of €6,000 <strong>to</strong> cover project costs<br />
were also awarded.<br />
