Gospel and at <strong>the</strong> end sings or says <strong>the</strong><br />

acclamation: Verbum Domini (The<br />

Gospel <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord), to which all respond:<br />

Laus tibi, Christe (Praise to you, Lord<br />

Jesus Christ). The priest kisses <strong>the</strong><br />

book, saying quietly: Per evangelica<br />

dicta (May <strong>the</strong> words <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gospel).<br />

135. If no lector is present, <strong>the</strong> priest himself<br />

proclaims all <strong>the</strong> readings and <strong>the</strong><br />

Psalm, standing at <strong>the</strong> ambo. If incense<br />

is used, remaining at <strong>the</strong> ambo he puts<br />

some into <strong>the</strong> thurible, blesses it, and,<br />

bowing pr<strong>of</strong>oundly, says, Munda cor<br />

meum (Almighty God, cleanse my heart).<br />

136. The priest, standing at <strong>the</strong> chair or at <strong>the</strong><br />

ambo itself, or, when appropriate, in<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r suitable place, gives <strong>the</strong> Homily.<br />

When <strong>the</strong> Homily is completed, a period<br />

<strong>of</strong> silence may be observed.<br />

137. The Creed is sung or recited by <strong>the</strong><br />

priest toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> people (cf. no.<br />

68) with everyone standing. At <strong>the</strong><br />

words et incarnates est (by <strong>the</strong> power <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit . . . and became man) all<br />

make a pr<strong>of</strong>ound bow; but on <strong>the</strong><br />

Solemnities <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Annunciation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Lord and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Nativity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord, all<br />

genuflect.<br />
