Summary <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Allegations<br />
1. <strong>Report</strong> <strong>of</strong> physical abuse <strong>of</strong> a 61 year old male on dialysis for kidney disease.<br />
The victim's wife has a long history <strong>of</strong> verbal abuse, but <strong>the</strong>se were <strong>the</strong> first<br />
<strong>in</strong>cidents <strong>of</strong> physical abuse. The wife allegedly assaulted <strong>the</strong> victim on two<br />
separate occasions while <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> hospital.<br />
2. A 72 year old woman is allegedly be<strong>in</strong>g physically abused by her son and<br />
possibly also emotionally by her husband. Physical abuse resulted <strong>in</strong> bruis<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
The victim is afraid to report any abuse.<br />
3. An 89 year old woman is unable to handle her f<strong>in</strong>ances any longer and is very<br />
vulnerable to f<strong>in</strong>ancial predators and creditors when she can't pay her bills. Her<br />
dementia and confusion have <strong>in</strong>creased and she needs more help than she is<br />
will<strong>in</strong>g to admit. A neighbor had been help<strong>in</strong>g her with bills and o<strong>the</strong>r support,<br />
but is unable to give <strong>the</strong> help she needs. Her home has become very cluttered,<br />
with bills pil<strong>in</strong>g up and unpaid. The victim has a prior APS history.<br />
4. Allegation <strong>of</strong> neglect by caregiver mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> developmentally disabled, nonverbal<br />
31 year old male. The home is unsanitary and <strong>the</strong> victim was dirty,<br />
unkempt, and smell<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> ur<strong>in</strong>e & feces. It has been more than a year s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong><br />
last medical visit.<br />
5. A 58 year old disabled female has failed to respond to her re-determ<strong>in</strong>ation<br />
request for her Supplemental Security Income (SSI). She has not received any<br />
SSI monies for two months.<br />
6. A 75 year old woman lives <strong>in</strong> a trailer on property which is be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>vestigated<br />
for code violations. She has no facilities; uses <strong>the</strong> outside. She has to move.<br />
She is very paranoid and delusional.<br />
7. A 52 year old male is completely dependent on care but at this po<strong>in</strong>t refuses<br />
hospice/24hr care. He qualifies for 277 hours per month from In-Home<br />
Supportive <strong>Services</strong>, but he does not receive <strong>the</strong> care. It is unclear if <strong>the</strong> victim<br />
is cover<strong>in</strong>g up for his caregiver or if he has some cognitive impairment.<br />
8. A 65 year old disabled female is cared for by her son, who is allegedly a crack<br />
addict and abus<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> victim. The report<strong>in</strong>g party received a letter from <strong>the</strong><br />
victim's o<strong>the</strong>r son describ<strong>in</strong>g unsanitary liv<strong>in</strong>g conditions, abuse and neglect to<br />
<strong>the</strong> victim by <strong>the</strong> addict son. The letter writer adds that <strong>the</strong> victim is so<br />
<strong>in</strong>timidated by <strong>the</strong> abusive son that she will lie to protect him.<br />
9. A 71 year old female <strong>in</strong>sists she wants her niece and niece's children to<br />
rema<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> home even though <strong>the</strong>y have a previous history <strong>of</strong> tak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
advantage <strong>of</strong> her and caus<strong>in</strong>g her mental stress. The victim's cognitive ability<br />
has now deteriorated and she is not capable <strong>of</strong> mak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>se types <strong>of</strong> decisions<br />
or handl<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> stress at this time.<br />
10. The son <strong>of</strong> an 80 year old woman is tak<strong>in</strong>g all her money, <strong>the</strong> title to her<br />
house, and "everyth<strong>in</strong>g else".<br />
