179. A 33 year old female has cerebral palsy, is wheelchair bound, and a severe<br />

quadriplegic unable to use her hands. She communicates with difficulty, needs<br />

total care, and is very dependent upon o<strong>the</strong>rs. The victim and o<strong>the</strong>rs from <strong>the</strong> day<br />

program went on an out<strong>in</strong>g to a local mall. The day program providers left <strong>the</strong><br />

victim and o<strong>the</strong>r consumers unattended <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> bus for approximately 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes.<br />

The victim is afraid <strong>of</strong> retribution for report<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>cident.<br />

180. A 48 year old female is filthy and unkempt. Her house is so bad it smells<br />

from <strong>the</strong> outside. She is bed bound and may not be able to ambulate. She may<br />

have mental health issues, has In-Home Supportive <strong>Services</strong> but refuses all<br />

except limited help. The victim was recently hospitalized. Child <strong>Protective</strong><br />

<strong>Services</strong> is <strong>in</strong>volved because <strong>the</strong> victim has a child <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> home without proper<br />

care.<br />

181. A 66 year old female, whose roommate passed away recently, appears to be<br />

<strong>in</strong>capable <strong>of</strong> car<strong>in</strong>g for herself. Emergency crews responded to four calls from<br />

her <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> past two weeks.<br />

182. An 81 year old female has multiple health issues; hypertension, <strong>in</strong>sul<strong>in</strong><br />

dependent diabetic, had a recent hip replacement and a small stroke yield<strong>in</strong>g<br />

some memory loss, hear<strong>in</strong>g impairment, and major depression. Her In-Home<br />

Supportive <strong>Services</strong> care provider stole valuable jewelry from her.<br />

183. A 77 year old female has worsen<strong>in</strong>g dementia with drastic changes <strong>in</strong><br />

personality and behavior. She is described as combative, violent, reclusive, and<br />

paranoid. The client is non-compliant to go<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> doctor and/or tak<strong>in</strong>g or<br />

purchas<strong>in</strong>g prescribed medications. She fractured her wrist which was left<br />

unattended for several weeks. She is be<strong>in</strong>g evicted for nonpayment <strong>of</strong> rent. A<br />

strong smell <strong>of</strong> ur<strong>in</strong>e <strong>in</strong>dicates possible <strong>in</strong>cont<strong>in</strong>ence. Her home is very cluttered<br />

and a fire hazard. She set <strong>the</strong> apartment on fire two months ago. Law<br />

enforcement has posted an eviction.<br />

184. An 83 year old female's niece has taken ano<strong>the</strong>r $25,000 loan out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

client's account without her knowledge. There are fears for <strong>the</strong> victim's safety<br />

because <strong>the</strong> niece is <strong>the</strong> sole heir to <strong>the</strong> victim's estate.<br />

185. A 20 year old female dependent adult has a seizure disorder with diagnosis<br />

<strong>of</strong> mental retardation, histrionic behavior, paranoid delusion and depression. The<br />

victim requested a new mentor and home placement because her present<br />

mentor's fa<strong>the</strong>r yelled and swore at her and hit her <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> chest.<br />

186. An elderly 60+ female is <strong>the</strong> caregiver/spouse <strong>of</strong> a veteran who has been<br />

diagnosed with dementia. There are concerns regard<strong>in</strong>g her cognitive limitations.<br />

She consistently appears confused and does not seem to understand <strong>in</strong>structions<br />

regard<strong>in</strong>g her husband's care. Both she and her spouse may need to be<br />

assessed for conservatorship.<br />

187. An 83 year old female with a medical history <strong>of</strong> cardiac problems recently<br />

had two separate <strong>in</strong>stances <strong>of</strong> dizz<strong>in</strong>ess and fa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g spells. There are concerns<br />

for her safety. She lives <strong>in</strong> a large apartment complex where most o<strong>the</strong>r residents<br />

are work<strong>in</strong>g dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> day when <strong>the</strong> victim is at home by herself.<br />
