<strong>The</strong> extreme in mesomorphy is the classical Hercules. S/he is muscley - broad shoulders and chest, heavily<br />

muscled arms and legs etc. and has a minimal amount <strong>of</strong> subcutaneous fat.<br />

<strong>The</strong> extreme in ectomorphy is the thin man/woman - peaked face, receding chin, thin narrow chest and<br />

abdomen, spindly arms and legs. S/he has neither much muscle or much subcutaneous fat.<br />

Naturally, the vast majority <strong>of</strong> people are not extremes like these but have a moderate amount <strong>of</strong> each<br />

component. Using Sheldon's technique, each individual is given a rating <strong>of</strong> from 1 to 7 in each component.
