In additi<strong>on</strong> to generating some high quality entries for MashupAustralia, GovHack also gave developers<br />
the opportunity to interact <strong>with</strong> some <strong>of</strong> the public servants who manage the datasets, <strong>and</strong> it was clear<br />
that there was much that these two communities can learn from each other.<br />
In total over 82 entries were submitted for MashupAustralia, which is fantastic in a five-week timeframe<br />
<strong>and</strong> well <strong>on</strong> par <strong>with</strong> other mashup c<strong>on</strong>tests globally.<br />
7.4.3 Creative Comm<strong>on</strong>s<br />
The taskforce licensed its blog <strong>and</strong> the comments it elicited, its issues paper, draft <strong>and</strong> final<br />
reports under Creative Comm<strong>on</strong>s Attributi<strong>on</strong> 2.5 Australia (CC BY) licenses allowing free<br />
distributi<strong>on</strong>, reuse <strong>and</strong> transformati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> our work.<br />
7.5 Other forms <strong>of</strong> public c<strong>on</strong>sultati<strong>on</strong><br />
<br />
A total <strong>of</strong> eight open public forums were held around Australia in August <strong>and</strong> September 2009.<br />
The Open Forums were attended by over 250 people, <strong>with</strong> each event attended by the taskforce<br />
Chair <strong>and</strong> at least <strong>on</strong>e other Taskforce member.<br />
In c<strong>on</strong>juncti<strong>on</strong> <strong>with</strong> the Open Forum events, the taskforce ran a series <strong>of</strong> roundtable events in<br />
each capital city (<strong>with</strong> two held in Canberra). At each roundtable event individuals from the<br />
public <strong>and</strong> private sectors were invited to meet <strong>with</strong> the taskforce Chair <strong>and</strong> other Taskforce<br />
members to share their views <strong>on</strong> the issues <strong>and</strong> challenges <strong>of</strong> <strong>Government</strong> <strong>2.0</strong>.<br />
Additi<strong>on</strong>ally the taskforce invited other, more traditi<strong>on</strong>al submissi<strong>on</strong>s to the taskforce through<br />
letters from the taskforce Chair to senior bureaucrats, government committees <strong>and</strong> Ministers<br />
across Australian governments.<br />
7.5.1 Internati<strong>on</strong>al Reference Group<br />
The taskforce drew <strong>on</strong> the expertise <strong>of</strong> Web <strong>2.0</strong> practiti<strong>on</strong>ers who have successfully undertaken<br />
similar work internati<strong>on</strong>ally by inviting key people to participate in an Internati<strong>on</strong>al Reference<br />
Group (IRG).<br />
IRG members were drawn from a range <strong>of</strong> sectors including government — from CIOs to<br />
archivists, academia, private <strong>and</strong> not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it sectors as well as bloggers <strong>and</strong> people making<br />
innovative use <strong>of</strong> Web <strong>2.0</strong> platforms, coming from the UK, Europe, Canada, Singapore, the US<br />
<strong>and</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>.<br />

7.5.2 <strong>Government</strong> <strong>2.0</strong> seed projects<br />
The terms <strong>of</strong> reference stated that the taskforce should work <strong>with</strong> the public, private, cultural<br />
<strong>and</strong> not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it sectors to fund <strong>and</strong> develop seed projects that dem<strong>on</strong>strate the potential <strong>of</strong><br />
proactive informati<strong>on</strong> disclosure <strong>and</strong> digital engagement for government.<br />
