Computer Guided Implant Surgery<br />

While <strong>the</strong> paradigm “pros<strong>the</strong>tically driven implant <strong>the</strong>rapy” is widely<br />

accepted and promoted, achieving this objective can be elusive with <strong>the</strong><br />

applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> conventional technologies. Utilizing cone-beam CT imaging,<br />

<strong>the</strong> applic<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> computer guidance systems provides symbiosis<br />

between <strong>the</strong> surgical diagnosis, pros<strong>the</strong>tic tre<strong>at</strong>ment plan, bone graft surgery<br />

and surgical implant placement, and can ensure th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> surgical<br />

reconstruction provides <strong>the</strong> restoring dentist with <strong>the</strong> most desirable<br />

found<strong>at</strong>ion to support <strong>the</strong> intended pros<strong>the</strong>sis.<br />

The NEW RCDSO Sed<strong>at</strong>ion Guidelines –<br />

Minimal, Moder<strong>at</strong>e, or Deep<br />

This present<strong>at</strong>ion will provide a synopsis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2009 revised RCDSO<br />

Sed<strong>at</strong>ion Guidelines and will be a practical distill<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> guidelines<br />

with inform<strong>at</strong>ion to facilit<strong>at</strong>e <strong>the</strong> incorpor<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> sed<strong>at</strong>ion into dental<br />

p<strong>at</strong>ient care. Although all sed<strong>at</strong>ion modalities will be addressed, <strong>the</strong> focus<br />

<strong>of</strong> this present<strong>at</strong>ion will be describing <strong>the</strong> required equipment and training<br />

to carry out <strong>the</strong> types <strong>of</strong> sed<strong>at</strong>ion most used by general practitioners<br />

(minimal and moder<strong>at</strong>e conscious sed<strong>at</strong>ion) in accordance with <strong>the</strong>se<br />

newly revised regul<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
