About the Speaker
Dr. Goldstep has lectured nationally and internationally on CONSERVE-ative
Dentistry, Innovations in Hygiene, Dentist Health Issues, Magnification and
Office Design. Dr. Goldstep has served on the teaching faculties of the Postgraduate
Programs in Esthetic Dentistry at SUNY Buffalo, Universities of
Florida (Gainesville), Minnesota (Minneapolis) and UMKC (Kansas City). Dr.
Goldstep sits on the Editorial Board of Oral Health Magazine
(Healing/Preventive Dentistry) and Dental Tribune US Edition. She is a Fellow
of the American College of Dentists, International Academy of Dental-Facial
Esthetics and the Academy of Dentistry International. Dr. Goldstep has been
a contributing author to 3 textbooks and has published more than 20 articles.
She has been listed as one of the leaders in Continuing Education by
Dentistry Today since 2002. Dr. Goldstep is a consultant to a number of dental
companies and maintains a private practice in Toronto, Canada. .
About the Program
Dental therapy has turned to a new medical model, bringing enhanced
treatment for the patient and easier more predictable procedures for the
dental team.
This program focuses on the new technologies that have made this possible:
New caries detection systems are making caries diagnosis more scientific,
accurate, reproducible and clinically significant. Caries detection systems
use various forms of light technology from laser to LED to reveal caries at an
early stage. These technologies will be compared and evaluated. The diode
laser has become the essential soft tissue hand piece for the dental practice.
User friendly laser technology keeps periodontal treatment in the general
dentist’s office. The range of treatment includes crown lengthening, gingivectomies,
and troughing of tissues for flawless impressions . The dental
hygienist can use the soft tissue laser for bacterial reduction and biostimulation
to promote periodontal tissue repair and healing. Photo-activated disinfection
can be utilized to promote remineralization and repair of dental tissues.
Early interproximal carious lesions can be sealed by a unique new resin
infiltration system .The potpourri of ingredients and tools that the dentist
and hygienist need for therapies will be described in detail. Know your best

About the Speaker
John has nineteen years experience with the Toronto Fire Services and
fourteen years on a Heavy Rescue vehicle. John is currently a certified
BLS-AED Instructor Trainer with the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
and the American Heart Association. He is also an Instructor-Trainer in
First Aid with Rescue 7, Health Canada and Human Resources
Development Canada. John has completed the Ontario Fire Marshall's
Emergency Patient Care Instructor Level (First Responder) Program and
is certified in Auto Extrication, High Angle Rescue, Hazardous Materials
and Confined Space Entry. John is also a "Train the Trainer" with the
Infant Toddler Safety Association of Canada. He is CEO of Rescue 7 inc.
About the Program
The first few minutes after an injury or medical emergency are the most
crucial in determining the rate and duration of recovery. Life-threatening
emergencies may arise within the dental office. Knowing what to do in
the event of an injury or emergency will help you stay calm and take the
proper actions and precautions to help the victim have the best chances
of a full recovery. This seminar examines the areas that are vital to a proper
understanding of emergency medicine: prevention, recognition,
preparation and treatment of medical emergencies. Emphasis is placed
on the role of the dental staff as the emergency “team” and a review of the
office emergency kit (drugs and equipment) will be discussed.
