STATEMENT
It is the mission of

abilities.
We accomplish this
through communication,
coordination, and
education in a
professional and timely
manner for the Town of
Scarborough.
It is with pleasure that I submit this annual report on behalf of the
Community Services Department for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
This year can be best described as a year of continuing change.
The Department continues to grow in every facet. Our programs
continue to attract a wide variety of participants in the
community, and our growing needs will shape our department for
many years to come.
Over the past year the Town has installed a new turf field at the
high school (Clifford Mitchell Sports Complex). Included in the
project was the resurfacing of our track facility and a new set of
bleachers that seats 2,500, increasing the capacity to 3,700. This
sports facility will be a landmark for many years to come. It will
provide our athletes and community many hours of quality
playing time, serving as one of the premier facilities in the State
of Maine. Scarborough can take pride in this facility because it
shows the commitment we have established over the years to be

a leader in facility and program development. Scarborough citizens will experience many years
of enjoyment from this project.
In conclusion, I urge all the citizens of Scarborough to take advantage of what the town has to
offer. Many opportunities await those who want to stay fit and be active and involved in the
community. Scarborough is a great place to raise a family and partake in the many
opportunities offered.

• Special events, including Summerfest, Winterfest, Autumn Harvest, and Easter Egg Hunt
• Facilities scheduling of buildings, recreation areas, complexes, and parks
• Beach maintenance and administration, including boat launching.
