CIL’s August coal sales through e-auction down

The eight coal producing subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd
(CIL) sold a total of 3.64 mt of coal through e-auction
route during the month of August, according to
information available with ICMW.
The subsidiaries had offered 3.95 mt coal for sale through
the system and almost 92% of the quantity offered was sold,
indicating good demand from consumers.
In July, the CIL subsidiaries had offered 4.08 mt and nearly
90% or 3.66 mt was sold.
The CIL earned a total of `681.74 crore in August from sale
through the auctions, which was 80% higher than notified
price of Rs 379.11 crore for the same quantity and 38.33% more
than floor price or reserve price of `492.84 crore.
In July, it had earned `652.26 crore from sale through the
auctions, which was 70% higher than notified price of `384.01
crore.
For the period April-Aug, CIL subsidiaries offered a total
of 18.51 mt coal for sale through e-auction route and managed
to sell 16.60 mt helping them earn a revenue of `2959.55 crore,
183% higher than value of notified price of `1047 crore of the
same quantity.
In other words, CIL earned additional revenue of about
`1912.55 crore by selling a portion of its production through
e-auction between April and August.
