3. HARDWARE CONFIGURATION<br />
3.1 Selection of Mounting Rack<br />
The number of the I/O modules and CPU type must be considered when selecting the<br />
mounting rack. If the process to be controlled is spread over a large area, considerable<br />
savings can be achieved by using the AL2000 to implement a distributed control system<br />
utilising several remote units. In this case only the central unit requires PLC programming,<br />
the remote units operate as Modbus RTU I/O units only.<br />
Five different mounting racks are available:<br />
1. MR3-mini for up to 3 I/O modules (CPU2000SCP)<br />
2. MR3 for up to 3 I/O modules<br />
3. MR5 for up to 5 I/O modules<br />
4. MR11 for up to 11 I/O modules<br />
5. MR16 for up to 16 I/O modules<br />

3.2 Selection of Power Input Module(s)<br />
The AL2000 power supply is made up of two separate parts, the power connecting module<br />
and the power supply module. All mounting racks except the MR3 and MR3-mini<br />
must be fitted with both of these units. A different, single-unit power supply is included<br />
with the MR3 and the MR3-mini requires no power supply (the CPU2000SCP has its own<br />
power supply).<br />
There are two types of power connecting module available, the PCON230 and the<br />
PCON24. These must be used in conjunction with the POWAC and POWDC power supply<br />
modules respectively:<br />
PCON230 and POWAC: Input voltage 230VAC<br />
Suitable for MR5, MR11, MR16<br />
PCON24 and POWDC: Input voltage 24VAC/DC<br />
Suitable for MR5<br />
PWR3: Input voltage 230VAC or 24VAC/DC<br />
Suitable for MR3 only<br />
