Carrierless MODEMs are usually used over short distances (maximum cable l<strong>eng</strong>th,<br />
15km). Typically a four wire system is used in order to realise a network.<br />

Carrierless MODEMs can be used for point-to point connection.<br />
MODEMs are usually mains powered. If a battery back-up is required, the MODEM must<br />
be capable of being powered by a battery.<br />
When a MODEM is used, the following definitions should be made in the PLC.<br />
