Directed by Steven Kunkle and Lisa Furugen, this musical comedy brings an array of talent to the Hill. It stars Marty Neider as Reverend Mother; Jacque Swerdfeger as Sister Mary Hubert; Kristin Bischof as Sister Amnesia; Phyllis Curington-Brown as Sister Robert Anne; and Alyssa Van Der Linden as Sister Leo. The story introduces the “Little Sisters of Hoboken” who have discovered that their cook, Sister Julia, “Child of God” has accidentally poisoned 52 sisters with her vichyssoise soup and they all died instantly of botulism. The remaining sisters were able to bury all but four sisters as they ran out of money due to the fact that the Reverend Mother decided to buy a VCR for the convent instead. So, they decide to put on a benefit show to raise the funds to bury the last four sisters whom they have placed in the freezer. But when the health inspector finds out, the sisters have to hurry up and think of other ways to raise the money before they get into “Holy Trouble.” Musical numbers include “Nunsense is Habit Forming” and “We’ve Got to Clean Out the Freezer,” along with a special guest nun, Sister Mary Annette. The production is for all ages. Curtain time is 5 p.m. the Saturdays and Sundays of July 19, 20, 26 and 27. Local parents association forms Catherine Zoltan is forming the Parents Association in Idyllwild for the parents living in Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Mountain Center, Garner Valley or Anza. Its purpose is to inform, teach and coordinate resources and information relative to the children and parenting concerns in the area. The focus of the forum is for basic parenting concerns only involving local health, safety and educational issues that concern every parent, and to bridge resources for parents in Idyllwild. But letters and e-mails do not appear to have gotten the board’s attention, unless it was handled privately. Consequently, GVPO United sees few options available to gain greater responsiveness from Hoskot and Garcia. Just as importantly will be United’s effort to reduce the current board’s lack of transparency, for example, banning non-members and classifying legal invoices as attorney-client privilege. Martins, who attended the DOR meeting Saturday, heard Hoskot say that the attorneys recommended not recognizing any action originating with the GVPO United as a group. This and other decisions are strongly suggesting to members such as Johnson and Hochee that the attorneys function as board members rather than staff. J.P.
