Creature corner
By Shela Boynton
Dog of the Week: Stella is a full-grown,
young shepherd-mix. She has a sweet disposition
but nevertheless was cruelly abandoned
when her owners left their home. She was
brought to ARF by a neighbor who was
moved to tears when the landlord threatened
to shoot this beautiful creature. She has a golden
tan coat and floppy ears, and is about 55 pounds. Stella
is understandably shy initially, but a little kindness warms
her right up. She loves other dogs and seems good with
cats. You can put the wag back in her tail by providing a
safe, dependable home.
Small dogs: Bella, with her loving disposition, helped
Stella feel welcome at ARF. This soft, strikingly beautiful
little beagle-mix likes and gets along with everyone,
including cats and other dogs. She’s under a year old and
weighs about 35 to 40 pounds. She would be at home in
any family situation.
Reunited: Thanks to ARF volunteers, the older brindle/
boxer-mix found her grateful owner.
Adopted: Tiny Topper has a great new home where he
is being appropriately spoiled, and Emmy is living happily
in San Diego.
Kittens: Jazmin, our tiny, full-grown exotic cat with the
big eyes, continues with great patience to mother little 3-
month-old Carlo, the tabby who will soon be bigger than
she is. They have been joined by Rocky, another tabby, about
4 months old, who does everything with great exuberance.
Affectionate and playful, they deserve homes.
ARF is most grateful to the volunteer foster homes where
rescued animals are kept safe until permanent adoptive
homes can be found. As a foster rescue organization, we
could not take in the lost, abandoned or unwanted pets
who come to us without the generosity and kindness of
the people who open their homes to provide much needed
attention and love. Call ARF to find out how you can be one
of these special volunteers. All animals rescued by ARF are
taken by volunteers to the vet for a wellness check, tested
and/or vaccinated, and spayed/neutered as appropriate. We
provide these services for the well-being of the animals and
for the well-being of our target communities. We welcome
and need your help.
ARF is open to the public for adoptions on weekends or
any time by appointment. We are located off North Circle
Drive behind the Christmas Is shop and off Cedar Street
behind A Cut Above at 153 North Circle Dr.
