This session will discuss recent medical literature,
whose conclusions may have significant impact on
the way we practice pediatrics. Participants will be
challenged to come to their own conclusions. At the
end of the session, participants will reacquaint themselves
with the skills necessary for basic review of
clinical studies and will reaffirm their clinician’s role
as interpreter of medical literature.

Program: Day 1
How to Take Yourself to New Heights:
Scaling the AAP Redwoods
This session, dedicated to the Section on Medical
Students, Residents, and Fellowship Trainees, has
an agenda that will speak to all of our members,
in all levels of training. The keynote speaker will
instill in all participants a renewed sense of meaning
and commitment in and to medicine. The Anne
E. Dyson Child Advocacy Awards will be presented,
where residents will hear about the outstanding
efforts their peers have performed over the last
year to improve the health of children in their communities.
The section advocacy campaign also will
be introduced, which will help medical students,
residents, and fellowship trainees become more
involved on a variety of levels, and provide them
with the opportunity to improve the lives of many
children. The breakout sessions will cover informational
topics on research in residency and beyond,
how to learn throughout one’s career, common
medical equipment found in pediatric home care,
and how to talk and speak about oneself in a professional
manner. The medical students will have
their own breakout session on how to prepare for
a pediatric residency.
