Goals & Intended Outcomes<br />

We are committed <strong>to</strong> a tradition <strong>of</strong> scholastic excellence and <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> a wide range <strong>of</strong> cocurricular<br />

opportunities. We respect <strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> each person <strong>to</strong> be a learner and we capitalize on<br />

individual differences <strong>to</strong> maximize student engagement.<br />

Among <strong>the</strong> hallmarks <strong>of</strong> successful learning and teaching at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> are <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> a well<br />

rounded set <strong>of</strong> skills and attributes in each student and <strong>the</strong> capacity for each one <strong>to</strong> take considered<br />

risks.<br />

At <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> passionate, talented and committed staff members contribute <strong>to</strong> a culture <strong>of</strong> learning<br />

and teaching that invites students in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> educational endeavour. This endeavour encourages <strong>the</strong><br />

sharing <strong>of</strong> existing knowledge and learning strengths, but also challenges all <strong>to</strong> engage with new<br />

knowledge, new methodologies and new conceptual frameworks.<br />

A life-long love <strong>of</strong> learning is fostered through students and teachers both engaging with ideas, people<br />

and concepts that inspire creative processes and responses. Such processes and responses<br />

encourage <strong>the</strong> innovative use <strong>of</strong> information and communication technologies in all fields <strong>of</strong> study.<br />

When a young woman leaves <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> she is well prepared <strong>to</strong> make a mature transition <strong>to</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

study or <strong>the</strong> workplace.<br />

Goal: The <strong>Academy</strong> is a vibrant learning community which equips all members for <strong>the</strong> promise and<br />

challenge <strong>of</strong> a constantly evolving future.<br />

Outcomes<br />

a. A personalized learning environment that equips each student <strong>to</strong> be a centred, resilient woman<br />

<strong>of</strong> Mercy and compassion.<br />

b. A teaching and learning environment grounded in <strong>the</strong> learning needs <strong>of</strong> each student.<br />

c. All students at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> are <strong>of</strong>fered engaging, purposeful and meaningful learning<br />

programs.<br />

d. The development <strong>of</strong> a concise pedagogical vision shared by all teachers.<br />

e. A community that fosters a lifelong love <strong>of</strong> learning.<br />

f. Students will develop <strong>the</strong> skills necessary for lifelong learning.<br />

g. An improvement in student learning outcomes.<br />

h. All students are able <strong>to</strong> access learning pathways that are challenging and meaningful.<br />

i. Student access <strong>to</strong> a dynamic collection <strong>of</strong> resources that support <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> deep<br />

knowledge, understandings and skills<br />

j. Young women who are empowered, able <strong>to</strong> exercise leadership and <strong>to</strong> make a contribution <strong>to</strong><br />

society.<br />

Achievements<br />

‣ <strong>2011</strong> was deemed <strong>the</strong> “Year <strong>of</strong> Teaching and Learning” and <strong>the</strong> College worked strategically and<br />

with significant and sustained energy <strong>to</strong> meet our goals in this area.<br />

‣ College involvement in an action research project – AGQTP (Australian Government Quality<br />

Teaching Project) a Contemporary Learning project – “Student Centered Learning, Engaging<br />

Students in Learning and Teaching In a Contemporary World.”<br />
