The Dark Side
The Sea of Silence

Lost in an ocean filled with fear.
My thoughts immersed, like sunken ships.
Broken dreams and shattered hopes
Are locked within my frozen lips.
The sea of silence captures me.
An endless rhythm in my brain.
Chained to the waves of misery.
Groping for my life in vain.
A puppet in the hands of fate.
Glued to the strings of destiny.
Dancing to a demon's tune.
A cruel and heartless melody.
Like the wind, a careless breeze
Carrying all my memories.
Scattering leaves of shame and scorn
In swirling, falling pillories.
My screams engulfed in salty tears.
They fill the ocean of my soul.
A prisoner in the sunken ships.
No flag of hope upon the pole.
Snake in the Grass

My mower slices spine and then is still
beside his severed coil. He sprawls inert
with mortal burden, unavoided hurt
that I have dealt like God, but not through will.
He draws the white across his eye, until
I know that he is sightless, while a spurt
of serum bleeds against his fire. The dirt
awaits its quenching, as I watch him spill.
But this is not my pain, nor my concern,
he seems to tell me. Therefore, I must leave
him to such insect rites as may address
the purpose, never pause my work to learn
a little more of death. My carelessness
is his to suffer, but not mine to grieve.
