The Dark Side
Crazy
Aaron Wilkinson
Am I a crazy man
There’s some might say it’s so.
I’ve never been a fan
Of those who think they know
What’s really going down
Behind the social show.
I’d shtick and play the clown,
To stay the angry blow
Delivered in the dark
Behind a warning frown
Despite “Algonquin Park,”
No matter where we’d go.
At times I’d want to run
Away for good and narc.
My youth was roughly won,
No pomp and bunting lark.
They went and missed the mark.
I went and bought a gun
To shoot inside ‘cause, Hark!
Thy first anointed son
Was greased upon his crown
To never bite but bark
And thought that skipping town
To head up North and shark
Would go against the flow
Enough as not to drown
In misery and show
His eyes were never brown.
My yes is often no.
I turned away and ran.
It’s dark behind the glow.
Am I a crazy man
