GAME SUMMARY
The Texans lost in head coach Gary Kubiak’s NFL debut
when the Philadelphia Eagles streaked to a commanding
24-10 win at Reliant Stadium behind 314 yards and three
touchdowns from Donovan McNabb.
Houston struck first with a 25-yard touchdown reception
from Eric Moulds in the first quarter. The Eagles answered
in the second quarter as McNabb found Donte Stallworth
on a play action pass to tie the game with 12 minutes remaining
in the half.
The Texans pulled ahead, 10-7, on a 34-yard field goal by
Kris Brown after the Eagles defense dug in at the goal line
to stall a Houston drive. Philadelphia answered with an 80-
yard drive before the half that culminted with a five-yard
touchdown pass from McNabb to Reggie Brown for a 14-10
Eagles lead with 11 seconds remaining in the half.
Philadelphia added 10 more points in the second half,
while Houston managed just 11 offensive plays in the last
two quarters.
Houston fell to 0-2 all-time against Philadelphia with the
loss, ruining a stellar debut by rookied LB DeMeco Ryans,
who had 13 tackles to lead both teams.
