RACKERS’ GAME-WINNING FIELD GOALS
Neil Rackers drilled a 35-yard field goal with 3:24 left in
overtime to deliver the Texans’ first-ever win in extra time.
It was his third career overtime game-winner and his first
since 12/23/07 vs. Atlanta, when he made a 31-yarder to
help Arizona beat the Falcons. Rackers is 3-of-4 in his career
in overtime.
RACK-ING UP THE TACKLES
Texans K Neil Rackers has amassed 44 tackles on special
teams throughout his 11-year career to rank first
among NFL kickers since STATS, LLC started tracking
special teams tackles in 1994. He ranks fifth on the Texans
this season with seven special teams tackles, including
one in last Sunday’s 20-0 win vs. Tennessee (11/28).
Head coach Gary Kubiak commented on Rackers’ style
earlier in the season: “It scares you, but you don’t want
to take that away from him,” Kubiak said. “He likes to go
down there. He will make a tackle. You don’t want to lose
him, but I think that’s what makes him tick. He likes being
a part of that. He likes getting pushed around a bit and
showing his teammates he’ll go down there and make a
tackle.”
Rackers leads the team with 84 points and is 18-for-20 on
field goals this season.
