IN ELITE COMPANY
RB Arian Foster is in good but rare company with the
numbers he has posted running the ball.
Foster is one of just three players in NFL history to accumulate
more than 500 rushing yards and 100 yards receiving
in the season’s first four games. Foster had 537
yards rushing and 152 yards receving through the first four
games of the season to give him a league-best 689 yards
from scrimmage. Only Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt
Smith and Billy Sims join Foster in accomplishing the feat.

Foster also rushed for a franchise-record 231 yards and
three touchdowns in the Texans’ 34-24 victory against
Indianapolis in the season opener and became the first
player in NFL history to rush for at least 200 yards and
three touchdowns on Kickoff Weekend.
His 231 yards on 33 carries ranked second only to O.J.
Simpson’s 250 yards in an NFL season opener. Foster is
the seventh player all-time to reach 200 rushing yards on
Kickoff Weekend.
FOSTERING ATTENTION
Texans RB Arian Foster set numerous team records in
the season opener against with a performance that put
the former undrafted free agent on the national sports
scene just seven games and two starts into his career.
Foster was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
and voted FedEx Ground Player of the Week by fans on
NFL.com after he ran for 231 yards on 33 carries with three
touchdowns against the Colts, all marks that either set or
tied team records. He rushed for the second-most yards
ever in an NFL season opener and is the only NFL back to
rush for three touchdowns and more than 200 yards in a
season opener.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame requested Arian Foster’s jersey
following his performance against the Indianapolis Colts in
Week 1. Foster’s 231 yards were the second-highest singlegame
rushing total on Kickoff Weekend in NFL history.
