"Home!" echoed Rhoda drearily. It seems so<br />

queer to think of home. And then it is so many years<br />

since I went away that they will have quite forgotten<br />

me. I don't believe I want to go home, Chimney-Elf."<br />

many years ! repeated the elf with his shrillest<br />

laugh. "Well, well! Step into the boat, and when<br />

we reach home, if they do not know you, or if you do<br />

not want to stay, I will bring you back to the moon, and<br />

you may live here forever."<br />

So Rhoda stepped into the dory, and took her seat<br />

in the bows as before, while the Chimney-Elf muttered<br />

some words which sent the little boat sliding down the<br />

sands and out upon the shining sea, already bright with<br />

the glories of the moonglade.<br />

Presently Rhoda drooped her head, and hiding her<br />

face between her hands, she saw again the wondrous<br />

scenes through which she had so lately passed. She<br />

saw Sir Percivale ?s kindly eyes bent upon<br />

her as he<br />

placed her rose in his doublet saw<br />

beauty, and Arthur's kingly and gracious face ;<br />

and the jealous eyes of Isolde<br />

watching her as she sat at the feast beside Sir Pereivale ;<br />

and as she turned shuddering from that cruel gaze, the<br />

voice of the Chimney-Elf came drifting dreamily in upou<br />

her reverie :
