to be of much use to anybody. Aladdin hides away in<br />
the closet to amuse himself by making trowsers and the<br />

and don't care for anything<br />
because she can't have the<br />
roc's egg."<br />
" And never a chimney in the whole house ;<br />
nothing<br />
but those horrid charcoal pots, even in the kitchen.<br />
Come!"<br />
And jumping up, the Chimney-Elf threw open one<br />
of the twenty-four windows all set round with precious<br />
stones .and fine goldsmith's work, and led the way out<br />
upon<br />
a sort of balcony<br />
formed of the roof of the lower<br />
story of the palace. Here he spread the carpet, and<br />
seating himself and Ehoda upon it, said :<br />
"Now where ? Who do "<br />
you want to see next ?<br />
"I should like to see somebody that has everything<br />
he wants, and is as happy as he can be," said Ehoda.<br />
The Chimney-Elf laughed, and bid her close her eyes.<br />
She did so, felt the carpet rise from the terrace, and a<br />
moment later felt it settle down again.<br />
" Look !<br />
" said the Chimney-Elf.<br />
Ehoda opened her eyes, and smiled.<br />

Door and windows stood wide open, and the afternoon<br />
air, laden with summer smells and sounds, filled the<br />
