inspired by the musicians who write lyrics
for me.
We know that you travel between
Istanbul and Baku quite frequently.
How do you feel in Istanbul?
Istanbul is my second homeland now. I feel
attached to this city as my family, husband,
daughter, friends and my husband’s family
live in Istanbul. It is the symbol of ‘peace’
for me.
You have watched the film “Bloody
January” which tells Azerbaijan’s
recent past with Nebahat Çehre as the
leading actress. What can you say about
the film?
The film, directed by Vahid Mustafayev,
tells the story of the struggle for independence.
It reveals the cry of a nation and
teaches how to fight for the sake of the
nation. The film carried me away like all
other viewers.

bakılmadan her yerde benimseniyor.

IN 2002.
It is the 23rd anniversary of the Khojaly
massacre. As a precious Azerbaijani
artist, would you like to give a message
to people who feel this pain and try to
find a solution to the problems in the
region such as the occupation of
Karabakh?
The Khojaly massacre is an unforgettable
tragedy for Azerbaijani people. We are
obliged to tell to the world how those innocent
people were brutally killed in a night. I
wish strength and power for all who strive
to end the occupation in Karabakh. I believe
we will share the joy when the illegal occupation
ends in these territories.
What is your favorite pastime in
Turkey?
I feel quite different in Istanbul than in
Azerbaijan. I always have a busy schedule
in Azerbaijan and I have to work hard. But
I can relax in Istanbul. As a wife and mother,
I do the housework with pleasure. At the
same time, I work with senior artists in
Turkey.
Turkey and Azerbaijan have fraternity
bonds. Can you say a few words about
the music industry in these countries?
People love Azerbaijani and Turkish music.
High-quality music and good singers with a
music taste are always appreciated regardless
of their nationality and language.
