PUBLIC NOTICE<br />

METRO HOLDS MULTI-HAZARD PLAN PUBLIC MEETING<br />

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – <strong>Metro</strong> government is holding a public input meeting for the revision of<br />

the Multi-Hazard <strong>Mitigation</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>, which the <strong>Metro</strong> Council, the state and the Federal Emergency<br />

Management Agency (FEMA) need to approve this fall. The meeting will be held Tuesday,<br />

September 15, 2009 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the East Police Precinct, located at 936 East Trinity<br />

Lane.<br />

Hazard mitigation is defined as any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk<br />

to human life and property from hazards. Local and state governments are required to have<br />

hazard mitigation plans to remain eligible for certain federal disaster assistance and other<br />

funding programs.<br />

A draft copy of <strong>Metro</strong>’s revised Multi-Hazard <strong>Mitigation</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> is available at the Public Library’s<br />

Main branch, located at 615 Church Street, or online at www.nashville.gov/oem.<br />
