FAA wind equipment clocked a 99 mph wind gust in the strong thunderstorm downdrafts. 70 planes were damaged, and 2 hangars were<br />

destroyed. Many trees and power lines were down around the county. Debris and jet fuel was scattered across the runway. The airport was<br />

closed for several hours. The hardest hit areas in Davidson county were Pennington Bend, Elysian Fields, Antioch, Old Hickory, east<br />

Nashville and Radnor lake. Part of a roof was lifted off Stratford H.S. <strong>Metro</strong> schools were cancelled on May 6 so crews could restore power<br />

and clean up debris around the county.<br />

charter operation at Nashville International Airport. Strong winds collapsed a section of a warehouse in east Nashville.<br />
