Affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The general objectives<br />

of CBSE are to provide students with a balanced education to facilitate geographic and<br />

cultural mobility through a shared academic experience. Subjects are studied concurrently<br />

and students are exposed to the two great traditions of learning – the humanities and the<br />

sciences.<br />

At JIRS, we emphasize on close integration of online and off‐line learning. Computers<br />

augment off‐line learning but are not substitutes. Students have instant access to<br />

information through a well stocked library and digital hookups with internet and online<br />

libraries. Opportunities for creative learning (beyond accessing information) are the touch<br />

stone of the schools IT curriculum.<br />

Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation<br />

The Central Board of Secondary Education has made X Board examination<br />

optional replacing it with Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation with immediate<br />

effect.<br />

CCE is a system of school based evaluation that covers all aspects of student’s development.<br />

It lays emphasis on continuity in evaluation as well as assessment of broad based learning. It<br />

is aimed at providing a holistic profile of the learner through evaluation of both scholastic<br />

and co‐scholastic areas spread over two terms in an academic year.<br />

The larger context of education is to prepare futuristic citizens for a meaningful and<br />

productive life in a globalised society. There is a dire need to strengthen the education<br />

system even more so in a pluralistic society which addresses itself to a heterogeneous group.<br />

Evaluation is a means of realising the extent to which we have been successful in imparting<br />

such an education. Evaluation is an indispensable part of the educational process as some<br />
