Sports Training at JIRS<br />

• Professional Sports training is imparted to all the students of the school from class 4 to 12 under the<br />

guidance of qualified and experienced coaches and trainers. The students are allowed to choose any<br />

one sports out of the following games:‐<br />

Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Cue<br />

Sports, Golf , Squash, Horse Riding & Swimming.<br />

• Child plays the selected game from Mondays to Friday in two sessions of one hour each.<br />

• Saturdays and Sundays are left free for the child to play any game of his / her choice.<br />

• Friendly matches are conducted regularly on all Tuesdays and Thursdays to give match situation<br />

practices for the students. In addition frequent matches are conducted under floodlit condition on<br />

Saturday evenings.<br />

• Students are allowed to change their choice of game once in a year after the winter vacation.<br />

• Monthly cross country competition are conducted on last Friday of every month. Regular trekking<br />

expedition are undertaken on Sundays and holidays.<br />

• Parade practices are conducted for all students once in a week to improve the general gait and<br />

posture of the students in addition to imparting leadership qualities.<br />

• Swimming is made a compulsory part of the school curriculum for all the students of the school and<br />

every student is given specialized training under qualified coaches once in a week. The students are<br />

required to pass the swimming test once in every year.<br />

• Meditation and yoga is conducted under the supervision of highly qualified yoga teacher on regular<br />

basis for all students during the morning sports session. Special meditation sessions are conducted<br />

for selected students who require special attention and motivation.<br />

• Regular aerobics, cardio ‐ Gym exercises and weight training is conducted by a qualified trainer in<br />

batches for all senior students of the school.<br />

• In addition, karate and chess are also part of the school sports curriculum.<br />

• All the students are given specialized training in bowling alley and cue sports once in a week.<br />
