The extent to which current car parks are decommissioned will depend on the activities that ultimately will be located in this area and the extent to which there may be demand for overflow parking sites for the car parks in the Consolidated Terminal Precinct. The Consolidated Terminal concept includes a combination of parking facilities. Car parks serving the new terminals will be located broadly in the same locations as the at grade car parks in the International Precinct as shown in Figure 8.4. It is expected that there will be significant multi-deck structures proximate to the new terminals providing shortterm and some premium undercover long-term car parking. These structures may also provide facilities for ground transport service operators. They will be linked directly to the terminals with aerial walkways. It is likely that the multi-deck structures will expand over time to meet demand and as such some at grade car parking will also be provided initially but this will diminish over time. At grade long-term parking remote from the Terminal Precinct will be provided on a site west of Horrie Miller Drive extending from Fricker Road to Hudswell Road. It is envisaged that the service provided in this car park will be similar to the new long-term car park services recently introduced and described above. 82

Utilities About this Chapter Successful implementation of the airport development plans described in Chapter 7 depend on effective and efficient provision of supporting utilities, including power, water, sewerage and telecommunications. This chapter outlines the current status and plans to deliver these supporting utilities having regard to the Development Objectives described in Chapter 2. 9.1 Water Supply Perth Airport utilises the Water Corporation potable water supply to service the estate. The supply has been designed to meet: • the potable water demands of travellers, employees and business located at the airport; • the requirements of the aviation fire fighting and rescue service for aircraft fire fighting; and • the fire requirements of built structures at the airport. The airport water supply enters the estate at three locations, which feed into a ring main. This arrangement provides redundancy in the event that one of the supply points is interrupted. Water Supply Development <strong>Plan</strong>s A water supply infrastructure and optimisation plan is under development. This plan will identify the supply required for the airport development plans and has the following objectives: • minimise the potable water use across the estate; • identify appropriate alternative water supply when potable water is not required; and • assess the viability of stormwater capture and re-use. 9.2 Sewerage System There are currently separate sewerage systems for the International Precinct and the Domestic and General Aviation Precincts. The Domestic and General Aviation Terminal Precincts are reticulated with a gravity system that connects to a pump station at the corner of Fauntleroy and Bungana Avenues. A rising main from the International Precinct is also connected to this pump station providing an alternative discharge in the event of a failure elsewhere. Water Corporation investigations have identified that the Fauntleroy and Bungana pump station cannot be upgraded to add capacity. Therefore once capacity is reached, any additional volume can only be serviced from the International Precinct. In anticipation of this requirement a new pump station, referred to as the Principal Sewerage Pumping Station, has been constructed. This pump station will eventually be connected to the proposed Water Corporation Maida Vale Sewer system to service the long-term needs of the airport. As development occurs on the airport estate all sewage will need to be discharged to the Water Corporation sewers. There are currently five main sewers proximate to the airport, some of which are nearing capacity. Flexibility of the internal reticulation system is essential to ensure that sewage can be pumped from one main section of the estate to another as the various current sewer connections reach capacity. Sewerage System Development <strong>Plan</strong>s An updated sewerage infrastructure plan is being prepared to ensure compatibility between the on-airport and existing Water Corporation systems. Future works on the airport sewer reticulation system need to be designed to allow connection to the Principal Sewage Pumping Station, which will in turn connect to the proposed Water Corporation Maida Vale Main Sewer. Westralia Airports Corporation will continue to work with the Water Corporation to ensure that adequate capacities for sewer discharge are maintained as the airport development proceeds. The International Precinct system is gravity fed to a pumping station located at the base of the air traffic control tower which pumps sewerage to the Water Corporation sewer to the south of the airport. 83
