what successful company we are very pleased to visit
today. Pinned on the wall there is a big site plan of the
location hanging, which serves for production planning.
On the map of the area we can see different ships that
are in production or in maintenance and all these boats
are equipped with magnets and “glue” that way to the
plan, but can easily be moved. The plan is not a drawing
– it is a big aerial photo. This oversized picture gives us
a little impression how large the location of Aliança
Shipyard is, where high quality “PSV-platform support
vessels” are produced.
Offering best-in-class maritime support for
the offshore industry.
CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore) the company
Aliança Shipyard is producing platform support vessels
for, rents the serving vessels to big oil and gas companies.
“It is a strategic advantage, that CBO has an “own” shipyard”,
says Alberto Rezende, Chief of Production, “so the
wishes of customers can be fulfilled the best way.”
Already in the late nineties the tendency was for petroleum
exploration to be in deep water and consequently at
greater distances from the coast. Therefore, CBO started
to invest in the renewal and modernization of its fleet in
order to adapt it to more and more complex operations.
For assuring the construction of new vessels in the necessary
deadlines and to the company’s quality standard
CBO acquired EBIN shipyard, nowadays Aliança shipyard
and invested in its industrial facilities in 2004 to be
able to meet the increasing demand and grade standards.
With these directives, CBO and Aliança shipyard have
been bringing new technologies to the sectors of maritime
support and shipbuilding in Brazil ever since.
