Slatina Schweißtechnik in Würzburg gekauft hat, hatte sie<br />
über ein Stipendium als „Artist in Residence“ 6 Wochen<br />
ein Atelier in Bremerhaven und Zugang zu einer Stahlbaufirma,<br />
in der sie alle Maschinen und Schweißbrenner benutzen<br />
durfte. „Was ein Glück war das“, sprudelt es aus<br />
ihr heraus. In der Kunstwelt wurde die Qualität ihrer bereits<br />
30 Jahre langen Arbeit bemerkt und schon mit verschiedenen<br />
Preisen bedacht. Ende 2014 wurde sie mit<br />
dem Kulturpreis der Stadt Würzburg geehrt.<br />
Malerfürstentum Neu–Wredanien mit<br />

Seit ca. 10 Jahren hat Angelika Summa ihr Atelier und ihre<br />
Werkstatt an dem aktuellen Standort, der unter dem<br />
wohl klingenden Namen „Malerfürstentum Neu-Wredanien“<br />
firmiert und das „Professorium“, eine Galerie für<br />
zeit genössische Kunst beheimatet. Der Name hat den<br />
Ursprung in dem Straßennamen „Wredestraße“, des<br />
letzten Standorts<br />
des Ateliers bzw.<br />
der Werkstatt verschiedener<br />
Künstler,<br />
die alle an<br />
den neuen Standort<br />
umgezogen sind.<br />
Als das Malerfürstentum<br />
„Wredanien“<br />
in der Wredestraße<br />
ge schlossen<br />
wurde, zogen also<br />
alle Künstler gemeinsam<br />
um in ein<br />
Gebäude, das früher der „Deutschen See“ einer Fischmanufaktur<br />
gehörte. Dort haben die Künstler Akimo<br />
Auftragsarbeiten, wie die Skulptur „Feuer<br />
und Flamme“, sind für die Künstlerin eher<br />
die Ausnahme, sonst gilt ihr Motto: „Ich<br />
mache, was ich will!“<br />

out. In the art world, the quality of her work, which now<br />
amounts to 30 years, has been noticed and already<br />
won various prizes. At the end of 2014, she was honoured<br />
with the cultural award of the city of Würzburg.<br />
Neu-Wredanien Painters’ Principality with<br />

For approx. 10 years, Angelika Summa has had her studio<br />
and workshop on the current site, which trades under<br />
the evocative name “Malerfürstentum Neu-Wredanien”<br />
(Neu-Wredanien painters’ principality) and which is<br />
home to “Professorium” – a gallery for contemporary<br />
art. The origin of the name lies in the road name<br />
“Wredestraße”, the last location of the studio/workshop<br />
of various artists who all moved to the new site. When<br />
the “Wredanien” painters’ principality in Wredestraße<br />
closed, all the artists moved together into one building,<br />
which previously belonged to “Deutsche See”, a fish<br />
processing plant. There, the artists Akimo (painting, conceptual<br />
art), Brigitte Hausner (painting), Angelika Summa<br />
(sculpture), and Angelika Summa’s husband Wolf-<br />
Dietrich Weissbach (photography) found their new<br />
home. “The smell of fish lasted for ages,” laughs the photographer<br />
who by now has joined our convivial cup of<br />
coffee. The Professorium opening hours for visitors are<br />
on Thursday and Friday at 18.00 – 21.00, Sunday at<br />
14.00 – 18.00, and by telephone arrangement (+49<br />
