Senior Citizens Bursary Phone: 519-661-2100 www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/2010/pg55.html Canadian citizens or permanent residents, living in Ontario who are 60 years of age or older or who will reach the age of 60 during the month that their classes commence, and who are offered admission to, and register in Senate-approved courses or programs in an undergraduate faculty or in the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies as a fulltime or part-time student for credit or audit, may be eligible for a bursary subject to the following conditions: 1. applicants must present proof of age; 2. applicants wishing to seek admission to a first year program in one of the Faculties of Arts and Humanities, Science or Social Science will be required to complete only a formal admission application; 3. applicants seeking admission to other undergraduate faculties must complete an application for admission and may be required to provide additional documentation; 4. applicants seeking admission to the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies must complete an application for admission and complete all documentation required by that Faculty; 5. applicants seeking credit for previous university work must provide such documentation as required by the Admissions Office. 6. declared financial need. 7. maximum value of $6,300 per Fall/ Winter term for undergrad students and $3,500 per term for grad students. 8. Tenable at main campus only. Note 1: Admission to limited enrollment courses and programs is competitive. Structure of the Degree Phone: 519-661-2100 www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/2010/pg79.html The Modules There are four possible modules of study which may be entered after First Year: • Honors Specialization (9.0 or more specified courses) • Specialization (9.0 or more specified courses) • Major (6.0 -7.0 specified courses) • Minor (4.0 -5.0 specified courses) Note: Not all departments offer all these Modules. The modular degree structure affords the opportunity to combine various subjects from different Departments and Faculties. The modules taken must fit within these degree structures. Departments, Schools, Faculties and Affiliated University Colleges may offer some or all of the above modules. See Faculty and Department listings for details. Combinations other than those listed below have not been approved; consequently, they may not be taken. Enrollment in some modules may be limited. Charity Ball, USC (January 29, 2011) www.usc.uwo.ca/charityball Charity Ball has been in existence for over 25 years and is a longstanding tradition at Western. Many students treat this event as their university “prom” where they go all out and celebrate their time at Western. Clubs Week, USC (September 20-24, 2010) During Clubs Week the atrium of the UCC transforms itself into a gathering of clubs to get involved in. Check out one of the many booths for something that captures your interest. EnviroWeek, USC (October 18-22, 2010) Email: usc.environment@uwo.ca www.usc.uwo.ca/envirowestern Enviroweek sees a wide assortment of activities (primarily in and around the UCC) ranging from the simple advertisement of our club’s activities, to elaborate and eye catching public displays encouraging environmental consciousness, and public presentations. There are plenty of ways to get involved by submitting your student films, photography and works of art or by simply volunteering your time. Held beginning of March in the UCC atrium. It is a time for the Western community to remember the contributions of its founders and celebrate the accomplishments of our students, staff, faculty and alumni.. The Curatorial Study Centre includes documents, publications and the McIntosh Gallery’s collection of over 3,500 works of Canadian and international art. PrideWeek (October 11-15, 2010) PrideWeek is a campus-wide event where students can show support for the LGBTQ2 community, learn about oncampus resources, and become more aware of queer issues. PrideWeek is organized by PrideWestern (www.pridewestern.ca). Theatre Western, USC www.theatrewestern.ca Theatre Western is a student-run production company supported by the University Students’ Council at the University of Western Ontario. Theatre Western produces shows of the highest professional quality, including full length musical and non-musical dramatic productions as well as student-written one-act plays. Theatre Western provides opportunities for all students to become involved as playwrights, directors, stage managers, backstage crew or performers. At a university with so many talented individuals, Theatre Western showcases student talent on stages around campus and within the London community. Western’s Earth Day (March 22, 2011) A day of environmental awareness and celebration, organized a month early so that exams don’t get in the way! This day is organized by envirowestern. Visit us at EnviroWestern.ca. White Ribbon Campaign (November 29-December 3, 2010) White Ribbon is an annual international campaign of men working to end violence against women. Western’s campaign is organized by the White Ribbon Commissioner (usc.white.ribbon@uwo. ca) and includes the Montreal Massacre remembrance ceremony taking place in the UCC atrium on December 6th.
