Get Ready for Intent to Register (ITR) The Brescia Advising Team will be hosting a number of sessions to assist you with your academic planning for September 2011. Intent to Register is the formal process of recording your program for next year. All returning students are required to submit their ITR. Intent to Register Drop-In (Foyer Outside the Library) Advisors will be on-hand to assist students in completing the Intent to Register process. All students may drop in to speak with an advisor. After final grades are posted in May, students may check their “adjudication comments” at student.uwo.ca Government Assistance for Non-Ontario Students If you are not a resident of Ontario, information on your home province’s financial assistance program can be obtained through the Canada Student Loan Program website. 64 STUDENT GUIDE 2010-2011
Brescia is Canada’s only university-level women’s college. Medical Accommodation Other Bursaries Note: If you consulted Student Health Services on-campus, use the Records Release form available in the Brescia Registrar’s Office. Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) See the Fees and Financial Aid Section in this guide. Applications are available each spring from: • from the Business Office at Brescia (for paper applications only) • online at http://osap.gov.on.ca Students are encouraged to apply early. All applications and/or application information must be submitted to the Business Office at Brescia. When applying for OSAP assistance online, please remember to select the University of Western Ontario as your primary school selection. Brescia is affiliated with the University of Western Ontario, but all financial assistance for Brescia students is administered at Brescia. Students, along with their parents and spouse with applicant consent, are encouraged to review their individual situation with the Financial Aid Officer. If you feel you are in a situation that requires special consideration, please make an appointment to see Brescia’s Financial Aid Officer in the Business Office, Room 110. Summer OSAP The application for summer OSAP is available through Western’s Student Financial Services. For 2010-2011 OSAP, please register for your summer courses and complete the “Undergraduate Summer 2011 Supplemental OSAP Application.” Applications should be returned directly to the Western Student Services Building at the University of Western Ontario. Deadlines Fall/Winter Fee Deferment to OSAP deadline - All students should apply no later than June 30th with all signature sheets and all outstanding paperwork submitted no later than the third week of July annually. You may defer payment of tuition until your loan documents are received if you applied for OSAP by the Brescia deadlines, and you have received confirmation from the Ministry that you will be receiving sufficient OSAP to cover fees due. Typically you should receive this confirmation automatically before the August fee payment date by either paper or email depending on the choice of communication you chose at the time of application, or you may check your status on the OSAP website. Please note that the academic year at Brescia is 34 weeks in length - two terms. A student applying for summer OSAP completes a separate application in early spring. Bring your ideas, doodles, drafts, or blank pages. We’ll encourage and help you to develop an effective voice in the academic community.
