A Brief Look at Huron’s Past
Huron University College was
incorporated on May 5, 1863, and is the
founding college of The University of
Western Ontario. Originally established as
Huron College, Huron changed its name
to Huron University College with Royal
Assent in June 2000. To be part of Huron
is to be part of one of the oldest university
communities in Canada.
In 1951, Huron moved to its present
location and has since seen major growth
not only in its student enrollment, but
also in its residence facilities, classrooms,
library, and faculty offices. From its modest
beginnings in 1956 with 45 full-time
students, the Faculty of Arts and Social
Science (originally known as the Faculty of
Arts), now boasts a student enrollment of
over 1200 full-time students. Our Faculty
of Theology continues to attract students to
its Bachelor of Theology, Master of Divinity,
Master of Theological Studies and Master of
Arts (Theology) programs. The two Faculties
enroll a diverse student body of about 1300,
with students from across Canada and
around the world.
Food
www.huronuc.ca/student_life/huron_dining_hall
All students living in residence must
participate in the food plan. Students dine in
the Huron Dining Hall, located on Huron’s
campus just a short walk from the residences.
Western Students may also dine here as well.
Huron students may choose to increase their
eating options by adding UWO food dollars
to their card, which gives students access to
the University of Western Ontario outlets, as
well as selected places in the City of London.
Your food card operates on a declining balance
system that updates your balance each time
you make a purchase at the Food Court.
